Biases are something that we all have. They are so ingrained within us that it is impossible not to be affected by them which often means that they have a negative impact on our hiring process. So how do we combat this? One way many businesses try is by spending a huge amount of money on Unconscious Bias training for their staff. But does it actually work? In short, no. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that it does very little to change attitudes and behaviours. A lot more needs to be done in order to affect real change within hiring processes.
